The graph of the cost of providing school dinners versus the number of children is a straight line not passing through the origin and increases as the number of pupils increases. From the first case, total cost = 200 * 9 = 1800
and, 1800 = 200x + C, where C is a constant
Similarly, 2400 = 300x + C
Solving the equations, x = 6 and C = 600
Total Cost = 6N + 600, where N is the number of students
Average cost = (6N + 600) / N = 6 + (600 / N)
The minimum value for this = 6

A book was sold for a certain sum and there was a loss of 20%. Had it been sold for Rs. 3 more, then there would have been a profit of 30%. If it was sold for Rs. 6.60, then the profit/loss percentage would have been.

He may have found that 1 orange gives the same amount of juice as 2 apples. Say he uses 2 apples and 2 oranges. The 2 apples give say x. The two oranges would give 2x.
The percentage of apple juice in the blend = x/(x + 2x) * 100 = 33.3%

If he may have found that 2 oranges give the same amount of juice as 3 apples. Say he used 3 apples and 3 oranges. The 3 apples would give say x and the 3 oranges would give 1.5x. In this case, the percentage of apple juice in the blend = x/[x + (1.5)x] * 100 = 40%

Looking at the choices, (B).
